Am thinking of putting on trip to Ourimbah State forrest on Saturday 4th July. Is not a hard spot and standard cars can do it with some time building tracks but is a bit overgrown in some places so will be some scratching so if you dont want your bling scratched best not come. Will be meeting at macs tuggerah bout 9.00am. Bring own recovery gear and food for me. Have not seen tracks since rain but are some relief tracks if required. Peter(new member old 4wder)

Hey Goldeneagle,
If I can get Sat 27th June off work to go on the Menai cleanup, I wont be able to score the 4th July off to go to Ourimbah, apologies in advance. Can be only one of those days at the moment (pending lotto numbers!). :'(

It might be easier to state who didnt have an issue.....I could give an update - but not sure of everyones names.

Appreciate the advice from Steve and Peter on directions for a newbie - much appreciated!!

Here's the females take on it......(you will like ly "technical" terms....)

Steve - starts in the Maccas carpark with battery terminal problems - fixed
Ian - issue n car was steaming - fixed
Black JK (unsure of name) - no gear selector - fixed
Veronica - Sheered valve off tyre (clipped a rock or something) - fixed
Black JK (same one as gear issue) - stuck between a rock and a hard place.....nah a log and a tree! Great work Casey for winching him out!

There might have been something else....but wasnt taking note of everything..

It was a day full of excitement!

Thanks guys! Cant wait for the next one next Sunday!!

Apart from getting frozen to the bones on the way up to Tuggerah that was a great day out. Good to meet some new faces and a big thank you to Peter for his organisation and direction to say nothing of his technical help during the day. It wouldn't be a good day out without some dramas and we seemed to be taking it in turn for a while. First off Steve T's electrics went dead before we got out of the Maccas car park in Tuggerah. Thanks to Peter with some well placed self tappers. Next off before the first climb my engine boiled when the fan thermo decided it should be off permanently. Thanks Mani for the fresh supply of water! Then Ash's high / low gear selector decided in-between was good enough with no drive at all. Thanks again to Peter for working wonders with some cable ties. Not to be outdone Veronica was not happy with the hissing noise from her back wheel because the valve stem had been damaged so that meant a wheel change. Then Ash thought it was his turn again and managed to wedge his Jeep between a log and a tree. This time Casey came to the rescue as it was a good excuse to try out his new winch. Inbetween time we enjoyed some good climbs and I for one enjoyed the day.
Can't wait until next time!
Cheers
Ian W.

PS. I see Veronica has beat me to it!

Had a really good day and enjoyed myself, was amazed how the less experenced drivers done so well and handled the tracks easily, maybe the tracks were too easy but the area is a good one and going in the other direction to the way we went gives another trip to do in future. Thanks to steve for helping with directing, I picked the wrong lines sometime. The ladies done really well and look forward to seeing them on trips again. Hope Ian did not get too cold on the way home in his topless gear. The boys from west in the red what ever model it was had heaps of fun with huge grins on their faces as they done some hard stuff with no worries. Thanks to Blacjac for some winching demonstration and we can tell them now we done it on purpose just to test Casey and his winch. Casey had a good day and I think he is looking for some harder tracks to test is mighty machine. Steve was tail end charley and tried some different line to everyone else just to see how far he could put it on and angle. My visitor had a great time and has no damage to his standard patol that he has found yet but he may not buy a jeep just yet but I am trying to talk him into it.
Thanks again for those who turned up and hope to put on another trip again when I get a weekend off.
Peter in his standard wrangler ::) ::) ::)

Hi guys,
looked like a great day.

My apologies for being a no show but my POS was in getting repairs...... again and I forget to let you all know I would not be in attendance. I was lucky enough to have Georges JK for the weekend howevr I was under strict instructions to stick to the blacktop in his absence.... shame. Everytime I drive past a dirt track or mud hole the car seems to want to pull off in that direction.

Chook and I will be out on a trek soon, we're both itching for a good run.

Hey Dudes,

Sorry I'm a bit late transcribing Lani's report, but I've been a tad busy dealing with the Swine Flu pandemic in our ICU. Will get to it ASAP. Mani, great picks Bhaya, although some pics of BlakJak other than stuck between a log and a tree stump will be much appreciated next time. Lani, Maya and I had an absolutely fantastic time on our first trip with SJC and look forward to the next. All those trials and tribulations fixed with expertise, ingenuity, teamwork, humour and no damage - totally impressed!

Olly, thanks for the trip and the under-car work. Casey, thanks for the sideways tow. Everyone else, thanks for the great company.

Later,

Ash
