View Full Version : Coil Spacers???

Need help...

i have a ZJ with a 3.5"lift and i am lookin running 32"tyres ;D i am concerned that i will lose a lot of wheel travel when i put them on and was hoping to avoid cutting the gaurds at least for now... is there any reason anyone can think of that a set of 1" coil spacers (shocks can suit up to 4.5" of lift) would not be a good idea to help me gain a bit more clearance over these tyres.

i know 4.5"springs might also be an idea but i olnly just put the lift kit in a month ago and am not ready to re-spend cash on my new parts, but don't mind spending time working this out.

Please help???

Coil spacers will be fine but you'll have to lengthen the bumpstops to run 32's mine still eat the guards on the XJ with 5.5" lift and some cutting. I need to bumpstop more though.

I've got a 98 ZJ but have not lifted yet, however I am paying a lift kit off at Wooders. I went with the 3.5 RE superflex because Dave said the drive line angles get to much. So I would be very interested to see how you go. I would like to to 33's so some cutting will end up happening one day.

Yup biggest issue is that there isn't a SYE available for the ZJ NP249 t/case.
Other than that, with adjustment of the bumpstops there is no reason no against the coil spacer. Also if you don't already have them, get adjustable panhards front & rear.

So it's not a drive line angle problem but a drive shaft lenght problem?

Nope it's predominately the angles.

The 3.5" RE superflex kit is the one i have just put in my ZJ and you definately need adjustable front and rear panhards... the kit is awesome though and i'm really happy with how she handles on and off road.

included in the kit were 2" bump stops extensions for the rear... does this mean i need to extend them again if put the coil spacers in???

Also i have found a company T and J performance in the US that does a bolt on SYE for the 249 transfer case...

will definatelty be looking into that soon thanks to Cpage66!!!!

also was thinkin if i do get the SYE fitted then i might as well put 2" coil spacers in and make the most of all of the travel the suspension has to offer.....
