Gday All,

Having issues with my 95 Jeep Cherokee I6 auto not slipping into overdrive. Also seem to be missing second sometimes - I imagine its the 1st trans solenoid (handles 1/2 and 3/4 shifting I believe) as OD sometimes won't kick in. any ideas? Can these solenoids be cleaned/refurbished? Seem a bit exxy to replace. Will adjust the throttle position sensor this weekend to make sure its not that. Anywhere I can buy cheap(er) solenoids in Syd?

Thanks All.

TPS isn't adjustable, having said that when mine NFG it would not select OD at all & other changes where erratic. I got mine though Ebay usa brand new to my door $70AUD. Delivered within 6 days.

TPS unit shapes are different from an XJ to a ZJ. Won't fit .... Found that out once before...................

Northern Road Wreckers in Londonderry had a couple a little while ago, Pick and Payless in Blacktown (Tattersall Road) had one that should be in the main yard by now

Thanks for your help, bought one on ebay for about 40 au dollars, hope this fixes it and I don't have to change the trans solenoids.

OK installed the new TPS today, didn't fix the problem, still won't hit overdrive and feels like its missing 2nd gear too. I had to clean the NSS as sometimes it just wouldnt start. It was pretty filthy and the contacts were seized so now it starts everytime. Could it be the adjustment of the NSS. I've lined it up with centre line on the trans and it only starts in park and nuetral, reverse lights work etc....... Will check the brake pedal switch, any other ideas? I'm not getting any check engine lights or other errors.
