Hi
I'm just putting the final touches to a bash plate made of 4mm steel to protect my aux fuel tank which has had a beating over the years. The form work is all done and welded
BUT
Just wondering if you know if I should have no space between the bash plate and the tank. i.e. flat against it or leave a space (how much?) or place some material between the two and squeeze them together?

Originally I thought of having the bash plate flat against the underneath of the tank but was afraid that if I hit it it could spark and cause a problem.

Any advise would be appreciated
Steve

hi there I would try and space the bash plate off the tank
or rubber between them is a must

The factory XJ tank has close to an inch between it and the steel skid plate if that helps.

Cheers
