Date: sunday 15th May
Where: Yalwal , Morton National Park- meet at Nowra MacDonalds 0830.
Sydney siders: meet at???? Convoy down south.

Follow yalwal road onto Deans gap road right into Mintbush veer to right track to creek crossing and head up to Landie Drop?
http://tapa.tk/mu/79d90baa-bef5-7fdb.jpg
This is a heavily rutted track that leads to a downhill drop-climb. Can have a play around here and some other tracks nearby. If time permits we will exit via Wombat and Monkey Gum. There are a few chicken tracks but not many that I can see.. Did a recce today looks pretty hard. If too hairy can just do wombat and monkey gum!
http://tapa.tk/mu/79d90baa-c42e-3c0b.jpg

Minimum requirements are 2" lift, 32" offroad tyres, lockers would be good.
Recovery gear is a must including rated recovery points front and rear

Ive decided to run the trip on Saturday and Sunday to get everyone in..... Still want to keep numbers below 10 including leader... so if your interested please post your intent and day

If someone knows this area well. Happy to let them lead otherwise I will do.

Put me down please.

There is the well known loop track which runs from the camp site at the bottom of Mintbush -drops down the rock steps, crosses the creek bed and then winds its way up to 2 parallel steep tracks, the left is sandy, the right is rutted. This is generally known as "TreeRoot". The track then winds back on itself down some good flexy ruts to a hill climb with a comp spec rock step which most people will bypass on the left. There is a little pinch at the start of this which i always struggle on (wheelbase thing). This track is generally known as "Dusty's". Maybe the big step is the Landy Drop?

The track finishes up reclimbing the rocksteps back out of the creek bed. Full Loop is a Solid B grade.
I would personally rate the right hand rutted track on Treeroot as B+ as it feels fairly committing once you start it.

From memory, looking at the pics from the trip that CraigB ran last year, they did the "TreeRoot" section of the loop.

Thanks DK. Glad someone knows the area. Yesterday got down through the creek and then back up however it scared the little one heaps so didn't go any further. Wish there were more local jeeps my way!!!! Great response so far. It could be good for camping aswell if we start on the Saturday!!! Coolendale.

Spent today with Wellsprung 4x4 club at yalwal. Wow there are heaps of tracks in this area. Did the wombat steps down to the creek and then back up again. There's the waterfall climb for those looking for a real challenge. And finally got directions to 6 stager aswell (not for me!!!) B+/A grade tracks

Keep an eye on that first page, the trip is full with a few reserves (yourself included) already, normally visitors are allowed on trips but not at the expense of a paying club member. Looks like you'll need a few drop offs before there is a spot :( Occasionally a trip leader will expand the numbers but that's totally at their discretion as they know the area and what the trip can deal with :)

Keep me on Sunday Jose. I've committed myself to get an alignment and balance at Beaurepairs on Saturday. I did a wheel rotation last Sat and have now got DW at 80 k/hr. I think this is because I've lost all the balance weights from the rims as a result of low pressures when wheeling and my crap driving. Incidently, and not the cause of DW (as DW started first) I finaly got my dampener relocation bracket from DBOR installed on Wed night.

What do you call a troopy wheeling in a river with no recovery gear? Stuck since midnight ...yep... Atleast they had the esky full of coldies...just ask Hunno. Lol
For his services and steves winching and SJC company. Crazy.. Then we heard it got stuck again in a bog hole leading out of mintbush...better get a jeep buddy.

For those interested, the planned loop of TreeRoot was not possible. There has been some big water down there and in the creekbed there was debris in tree branches around 18-20' up. The exit out of the creekbed is usually straightforward but currently is under a few feet of water and the bank where you drive out has been chopped up. Some lifted rigs on 37's didn't have much luck and the rocksteps were rapidly turning into a circus so we took a nice narrow track at the bottom of the steps which eventually linked up with Monkey Gum.
