Spotlight HID conversion

I decided it was time to upgrade my old Narva 175 lights. I'm very happy with the size of them and the beam they throw but wanted more light. Rather than replace the lights I bought 55W HID conversion for them. There are plenty on ebay but there were some specifics I needed, they had to be 100% water proof and run underwater, they had to have small/tiny Ballast and be 100% digital so they had a reasonable startup and minimal "warm up time", they had to be 4300K as these are the brightest and dont have that blue colour, in other words the light is more in the range we can see :)

So I found a set on ebay, not as cheap as the cheapest Chinese ones but they are fully sealed internally where the Chinese ones aren't which is important as the ballast will be mounted in the bullbar which gets fully submerged a lot. Anyway, a couple of pics and then when I fit them during the week some comparison pics between the HID and 100W Halogen. Oh and these should be easier on the battery as well :)

You gonna' seal that ballast a bit more yourself?

Depends, that one isn't a pic of mine, it wont get here until Monday or Tuesday, I'll probably take the top off and have a look but probably wont need to. Apparentley they run fine fully submerged and have a 12 month warranty including water damage etc so I guess they should be fine as is.

I saw the same kit yesterday while surfing ebay too. I am looking at getting some Narva Bull Lights $209.00 delivered from OZ too.
Then there is the HID kit like yours Steve. I am looking at 100w HID though!
I have 55w HID's in my XJ as a replacement for mornal road lights. Never go back to halogen!

I thought about the 100W kit but I dont really need that much and the cost difference was quite a bit.

What kit did you use for the headlight conversion? How does it go with oncoming traffic. I was thinking of just leaving my headlights stock (with upgraded loom) for around town etc and just using the spotties for the additional light but I wouldn't mind some low power HIDS for the headlights to reduce the wiring requirements. Part of my requirement is to reduce the electrical load and stay down at 55w as the max so 35W/55W for headlights would be nice.
