Hi all. So my question is what vehicles apart from the obvious van, ute and station wagons, are allowed to use loading zones. Are there loopholes that can allow me to use loading zones with say a hatchback. I I gut the rear seats out of a Getz and use it as a vehicle to transport goods would that allow me to use them

Cheers
Greg

I can only go off experience (not legal know how), but one time when i parked my work ute in a loading zone. I Came back to the wagons and hatch backs with parking tickets "for unauthorised vehicle parked in a loading zone" and me nothing......
If i had say company logo's plasted over a little hyundai getz or something, i'd park in one for sure.
If not, they'll just fine you thinking your trying to skip a parking meter and you have to go through a dubious procces to try and clear the fine. Telstra wagons don't cop fines and i see them in loading zones all the time, but they have pvc pipes, flashing yellow lights, ladders and telstra singage on the sides.
Its upto you wether you run the risk, them parking cops are Pricks!!

Cheers
Matt

best off calling the rta or your local council.....

Rta said no. Vehicle must be manufactured as a vehicle to transport goods so there goes that idea.

What about buying something like http://www.suzuki.com.au/vehicles/models/apv/model-variant/apv/overview Doesnt cost much more than a Getz and not very large so easily driven around the city...

Many years ago I used a Tarrago as a work van, I got booked, took it to court and lost, but the magistrate waved the fine.

Yea I'm leaning towards the apv. Test drove one last weekend. It still is much bigger than what I need but looks like that's what I'll end up with.

If you want to get away with a parking ticket... get 4 witches hats and a magnetic sign which says gas, water, electricity emergency response. When you park, just place the 4 witches hats around the rear of your vehicle and place the sign on your side door. Add a shovel for looks :D

Or go the whole hog...wear a hazmat suit and put large biohazard warnings on the side of car...tweak a smoke machine for wisps of suspicious looking green smoke and you should be free of parking tickets...
