Front drive shaft kj

I have to take out the front shaft from the transfer to diff can the jeep still be driven to drop shaft off to be repaired and home again whT will I need to do ? Can I get the shaft out with little mechanical knowledge and abilitly .

I'm not too savvy either but I'm pretty sure that you can. I have driven my WJ without the front prop shaft for a couple of weeks' whilst waiting for the new one to arrive, although I've been told that the transfer case isn't really designed for driving in 2WD only. Rather than having mine repaired or replaced by the Artamon stealership, I found it cheaper to buy one from the states. You'd probably need imperial size socket wrenches to get it out.

I'm sure someone (SJC member) living close would be able to give you a helping hand.

Thanks I should be ok then with spanners and glend has given me some pointers so ill climb under again have another look and I hope I can do it .
