There is a protest rally on the 2nd about the closure of Stockton for the last 7 months....any chance we could move the trip to the Sunday to avoid the clash?

Personally, rather not but I can understand why some want to attend the protest. Mind you, doing what you suggest adds another 180-200klm to the day not something I want to do.
If there are enough that want to do both then I suppose we could start it later in the day.

This may start a "conversation" but..... why not show support for your club before we show support for other causes? I'm happy to fight for rights to the tracks we all love but if we have little support for club and it's activities then we are not showing a strong front to others.
(This is only my opinion) .

the movie night was another example i can think of?

I've been thinking the same thing as it seem like the same people doing the same things . I've also noticed that we only have one long distance trip per year and higher graded trip nothing in between .

Granted Rey, Jambo was a huge successful event and it was supported but... perhaps I'm being unfair (and you can shoot me down if you wish) but really by only a small number of dedicated people willing to do so throughout the process. and I and many others are very grateful for that.

Not sure about this movie night, so can't comment.

Eg: I wanted to run a Watagans trip. It was going to be well attended, then it was changed due to requests & comments etc etc , yet now, No one wants to attend. My observation is: there are few people willing to take the initiative to make this a great social & well patronised club. That's my concern. The number of people willing to support the rally is about 10% of the members. I would have thought it would be higher.

I'm just trying to get more involvement from members. OR maybe I'm having an off day!

me personally, i reckon you should still run it, and give people the choice if they want to do the protest, or if they want to wheel that watto's with you.

MY OPINION is that no one should out rule another........ it was a good move to postpone your first trip due to fires etc, but wheeling and attending a protest are 2 different things IN MY OPINION........

im sure others will have a different view on it.

youre right though, there is a small number of people willing to put their hand up for anything, but there is no real requirement for members to do any more then pay membership...... maybe its somehting we can discuss at the next committee meeting?
