Hi - I'm really hoping that someone from your organisation can help up.

My son bought a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 from Queensland and to have it registered in Tasmania it has to be ticked off by one of our transport insepctors.

The problem that they are having is locating the engine number on the engine - the inspector cannot find it - we cannot find it.

Would you or your members have had a similar problem - and if so could anyone at all shed any light on the problem.

I'd really appreciate your help.

Hi Wolfe,

from Jeep Garage and Haynes repair manual, it would be on right front lower side of engine block, easier to see from below the car. Mine is all caked up with mud so I seeeee nutthing.:highly_amused:

A mate of mine with a diesel jk had same prob jeep ended up saying that some how it's motor never got an eng number and it took a lot of sorting out
