Hi All,

As the title says I am changing the Transfer Case 247 to 242, whats' needed?

Calling all T-Case exchange experts.:smile-new:

I currently drive a 2001 WJ IL6 with 247 transfer case . I am in the process of changing out the front drive shaft from a Rezeppa - Rezeppa to a Double cardan which I have nearly finished refurbishing.

I also have a 242 with a hack and tape and now the questions:

1. On the 242 there is an electrical connection for the speedometer that the 247 does not have so how does one convert this over? Or how does the speed convert from the 247 T-Case?

2. From research I think I need a slip yoke 27 spline to bolt to the T-Case to connect the rear output Drive shaft, where and what price can I get a slip yoke?

3. I Also need a rear double cardan DS, some sites say these can be put together from bits and pieces of various other vehicle drive shafts. What do I need?

Regards,
Adrian - Goneagain:smile-new:

All good, it's working fine and just needs a trail to test it on.

So what exactly did it need?? I planned on doing this when I owned my WG and was under the impression it was pretty much a straight swap. But I'm sure as with every thing else on the WG, that was probably far from the truth lol
