So we had to bail out of the Wattagans DPR trip (for now) as we had no idea if our JK was going to be ready. We're now hearing that maybe it will. Huzzah!

But we'll do a shake down before playing hard. Anyone want to join in? Yes it's late notice. :drunk:

Where: Newnes, look for a bit of B grade where we can to test the Jeep. Powerlines, pipeline, etc. Lazy late start, probably early finish. We are not not looking for snow. Just looking to shake out the truck. Does your jeep need a winter shake?

Meet up: Zig zag railway off the Bells Line of Road.

Time: a Lazy 10:00 start. Be there 9:30 to air down and disconnect, leave at 10:00

Difficulty: C+ and look for a bit of B

Requirements: recommended 33" tyres, 2" lift, off road tyres. Yadda yadda. But at Newnes we take take stock jeeps as there are options pretty much everywhere we go. Required: recovery gear and common sense.

Dru: 0419 855 121 (tel:0419 855 121)

number no particular limit but small numbers anticipated due to late notice.

It was about a year ago I was planning to join a trip and bring my nephew along with us when he suffered a severe medical emergency. Now that his rehab is progressing well, I've invited him along again this time. Sort of a celebration I suppose. [emoji846]

Hi Dru,

I have never been on a run with the Sydney Jeep Club, but I would be interested in joining you this Saturday. Is the minimum requirement 33s? I ask because you made a comment about stock jeeps. I'm in a TJ with 31s, and 2" of lift, and no rock sliders, skids, winch or lockers. If it is going to be more than the little TJ can handle, or you're not comfortable having me tag along, no worries. I saw the other trip Saturday as well that looks a bit easier, but I thought I would check with you first as I was hoping for something a bit more challenging.

Hey bloke. You'll be fine, plenty of TJs at your spec are awesome. This trip is a short shake down. We'll be picking up the usual culprits from Zig Zag. Its an area with C grade (easy) trails that link challenges together from challenging side of C, C+ and B. Each case has alternates or points to pull over. Its a great intro. And you can pick how hard you go.

We will be a late start - 10:00 out of Zig Zag railway. Taregt to be airing up something between 2:00 and 3:00pm. So if you want a short blast with challenges this is perfect.

Short run, small group. Thanks for your time John and Shaun.

The day started with sleet trying to become snow, but failing. Wind was up. Afterwards the trip home had trees and powerlines down. John constantly impressed with his determination to test the Trailhawk, and wow did it go. Shaun had to have the patience to help out a lot though! Don't have many pics, but here's a couple:

I may have gotten slightly horizontal at one point (oops).

Cheers guys!

Thanks to you Dru for putting out the call and to you Shaun for your help and advice. Great day out. Learnt a fair bit and had a lot of fun. Definitely will be getting out more frequently than I have been, especially after I get the lift installed.
John.

(Dru: I can't see the pics you posted.)

Thanks for organising Dru. It was a great day out. Unfortunately, like most days, I thought I would take more photos, but inevitably took only a handful, so here they are. John you can go to the link below each photo and download the full size originals if you would like.

Great stuff guys, and yes it sure was cold, I think it hovered around 4deg at Mt Bonfire. Sleet, wind and downed trees looked like the order of the day across the Blue Mountains. Cheers Doggy.
