Disappointing news.

1. The area is now closed due to wet weather with a note the closure may be extended. Carefully indicates it is only temporary and closure in wet weather is understandale.
2. They are grading the tracks. The tracks listed for this treatment is pretty much everything of interest on the challenge scale.

They possibly cant actually grade the whole trail, but it now looses interest as a drive for Kerry and me.

It remains an outstandingly beautiful area of the world very worthy of investigation. But Kerry and I will probably stick to the Wattagans at this stage.

If anyone else is interested in picking up the trip for SJC, PM me and we'll arrange to catch up at a club meeting to download any knowledge that may be useful.

Safe wheelin'.

The Ranger told us, that they would be grading up to the spot where half the people turn around.
So by that I take it as the end of Jurrasic Park.

What a huge loss.. Atleast it will remain open for the scenery.. I hope

(Responding to Nitrobent)

They list "Genowlan Point Trail" and not "Genowlan Point Track" so you may well be right. It will at least remove the bypass to the trig point turn off which we use to check everyone on the trip is up for what lies ahead, and the bumpy main trail there will be graded.

it would be nice if they did some water run off points on the GP Track without touching anything else.

I'm happy to hand over info to anyone who wishes to lead it.

Jose, if Nitro is right, and its consistent with the wording in the track close notes, then they just grade the preliminary tracks and presumably sort out better treatment in the wetlands area. All good - the kind of stuff that might have kept DPR open.

the driving challenge is after that and I presume to be too difficult for them to grade/upgrade. Their only real option is to control access, which so far they are careful to NOT do. (Thank you 4wd Association!)

I might run a reccie to see what they've done, once they are done, but generally I'm a bit jaundiced with the impact of NSW Parks on my recreation right now.

it's like they've planted a GPS bug on the JK and cautiously kill each track we take interest in. If Cut Rock, CPT80, Wave Rock start getting listed, I'm getting a security specialist to scan my truck! (Yes just joking.)

Disappointing to hear of he closure, still keen to do this track if someone picks it up again. At least I'll still ensure to get the XJ sorted for any future decent trips in the coming weeks.

Hi Dru, looking at the rock wall coming back down to that step I was winched over. There a widening crack about 20mm in width which indicates that one day that side is going to collapse. When is a good question, depending on rainfall and soil movement.

Cheers Rob

I am going out there next month with Advisory Committee so will be good to see what they have or have not done. Even if graded will be still good to run trips out there as it is an amazing area
The road has been graded for the mine to start drilling exploration activities
Lithgow 4wd club is still keen for a working bee so stay tuned for a date.
