It's almost time for Camp Coffs again :)

Who's going? I plan to head out of Sydney on the Thursday evening and either drive straight through to Coffs to start the trips on the Friday or stop along the way and head into camp early Friday morning. It'll be great to get a big group up there again, it's always one of the 4WDing and camping highlights of the year.

Knowing that it's not on next year, Daf and myself are definitely going this year. Also thinking of leaving on Thursday evening after work and head into camp Friday morning.

I'm keen to take the '85 Cherokee up, just working on recruiting a wing man to help fund it's unquenchable thirst for gasoline :greedy_dollars:
Will probably head up on the Thursday too.

Hey mate, when were you thinking of heading up?
I'm over in Bangor, not too far from Gymea if you wanted to do a Shire based convoy :eagerness:

Does anyone have any detail on where to setup when we get there? Are we able to be together as a group?

Mate , we normally camp as a group, but if you feel you need some privacy it's a fairly big area. Hayley and I will getting there Thursday afternoon.

Sorry if I wasn’t clear. I want to setup with the SJC group. Where will you all be? I’ve never been and don’t know what to expect. Will there be a sign? Are we meeting at some spot? Is there a regular place you guys know and assume? Thanks.

We normally setup in the same spot, or close to it. Go in the main gate at Camp Coffs and follow the dirt road around the upper fenced in oval (arcs around to the left), when you get to the end it opens out on to a grassed area with toilets and showers etc, we camp in this area somewhere. It's not big so we grab whatever is available, either along the pens just up from the toilets or along the fence backs against the road. The below link shows it on street view and is what you see as you drive up to the Camp Coffs entrance.

Remember to try and space out a bit and reserve some spots as typically we get SJCers coming in all night on Thursday, I expect to be there around 8pm.

Hi guys,

We are planning to get there on Friday morning around 9-10ish.

Can you please reserve a spot for us near you guys if spots are scarce? We are bringing the camper trailer.

Do you reckon there will be any afternoon trips on Friday?

Cheers,

Sean & Daphne

BOM Meteye weather predictions for Camp Coffs - in a nutshell:

x Pretty much pissing down now and last weekend to make sure the place gets a really good pre-soaking and bog holes are full
x Backs off nicely to be dry for setting up camp Thursday/Friday.
x Touches of rain to add interest to the trails over the weekend

A perfect Camp Coffs. :highly_amused:

Trips normally head out around 9:00-9:30am so if you can make it before 9:00am that would work (we'll stick you on a trip with the rest of us), they get back anywhere from 2:30pm-4:30pm but no afternoon trips, all day trips.

Steve, perhaps a stupid question but when I paid $120/ea to go to Camp Coffs, did that include the camp site or is that separate?

Thx

Guys - Kerry and i have a hiccup - so will not be getting there till very late. :worked_till_5am:

Would you mind keeping an eye on a spot for us? We only need JK parking and tent.

Looks there will be a few arriving late tomorrow or early AM Friday, we'll see what we can do in regard to grabbing space, might need to camp with our backs to the road (along the fence line) to allow us to spread out a bit more. I hope to head off mid morning tomorrow now so will see what is available when I get there. We'll work something out :)

Cheers

Well, for Kerry and me, that was our first Camp Coffs. Gotta say I understand the attraction. Had a ball, every trip Kerry seemed to win something.
"Hi, I'm Dru"
"Never heard of you."
"You know, Dru'n'Kerry".
"REALLY! Lucky bastard, the bloke with Kerry."

That's it, watch out, I'm the bloke with KERRY. :indecisiveness: :grief: :indecisiveness:

Great weekend. Time to start getting Grease Monkey going. :smile-new:
