I'm planning on running a trip up to the property on the 13th and 14th of January if there is any interest.

Let me know so I can book it in if you'd like to come along.

How many vehicles going etc. The main reason I'm asking is that the Suzuki Club will also be up there then, they have the property booked for the week. This shouldn't be an issue if you're not camping on the property but we still need to let them know we will have other vehicles driving the property at the same time as them.

To get access you go to the main office and get the key from Cambell, we are supposed to let him know in advance as well though as sometimes there are large groups up there and we restrict the tracks we travel on. It should also be registered as a club trip etc.

Tindog has excellent facilities. We have running water, a checmical tiolet, 240volt power (within reason it is supplied via solar panels to a battery room into an inverter). I would bring your own drinking water (rainwater available onsite). Not sure if we have a kettle, but we can power it so bring yours along. Meet point is normally the Caltex/Macca's @ Wyong northbound on the freeway. Don't think a time is set yet.

Thanks Warren,
Sounds good, I will bring a kettle (can't start the day without one or two). I guess the other question is how about a BBQ?

Looks like we're going to get a few members coming along and they'll obviously get priority. I'll let you know when it gets closer, maybe you'll be in Sydney for sure by then and have joined up again anyway :)

4 vehicles, and we are only using it for wheeling around and cambell has the map for the area, or do I get it from you.

As you're a financial member of SJC you're welcome to come, cost is nothing. You just need to bring food, tent and anything else you think you might need for the weekend, this also includes recovery gear etc as outlined in the mag in the trip section.

confident we have found the root cause for it bending and fixed that, thicker shaft is not an option due to clearence on the starter motor

The water crossing will be fine, the highest I've seen it is bottom of the bumper, although last year sometime the AWD club went up and it was over bonnet height, ain't going to be the case on Saturday though.

This is the deepest I've seen it.

Steve F
14-01-07, 09:50 PM
Wooders has a tierod end that he is swapping over for the busted one prior to discussing with whiteline, particularily impressed considering I didn't even buy it from him!!! So if the guys at gloucester can get the broken bit out cost wise it would be less than $100 I would think, bit of a pain having to go back up next weekend though.

The guy that the NRMA were going to rescue after me had been told the wait was 5 hours, they only have one flatbed up there and he was over the otherside of Barrington Tops!!! I guess I was kinda lucky :) at least according to the NRMA.

Cheers
Steve

Steve F
14-01-07, 09:52 PM
what happened?

Tierod end on my panhard snapped in two, just like yours except I was doing about 90-100kmh. Hit a small pothole, got a massive death wobble. Eithier the start of the death wobble busted it or it busted as soon as I hit the pothole. Hard to tell as it went from nothing to HUGE in a split second.

Yea i was driving right behind. It looked amazing. Big congrats to Bec with how she dealt with the situation. I'd be keeping all reciepts for everything involved with the events including petrol reciepts for the recovery, parts labour, towing charges etc etc to send to Whiteline. Is a SERIOUS issue as was discussed today. Glad everyone is ok.

15-01-07, 02:35 PM
That?s the way Steve make the most of the situation, I'm glad to hear that you and your family got back to safely.
I must admit I doubt that there has ever been a death wobble like that . We'll done Bec for keeping the truck on the road. Two thumbs up from me.

Thanks for every one else for a top trip to Tindog. :D
