We have recieved some info on a Nav run, these are regularily run in Victoria but this is the first being run by these guys in NSW. From what I know they are meant to be a fun and interesting event. If your interested then post away as two vehicles are needed ofr a team and hopefully SJC can be represented. At a cost of $300 per team (2 vehicles) and as many people as you want per vehicle it can be a cheap event with prizes and trophies.

Where: Sunny Corner State Forest, btw Bathurst and Lithgow, NSW.

Details of Base Camp Accommodation: We will be camping out under the stars for this Navrun. Camper trailers, caravans, etc are most welcome as access is 2wd. More details soon, inc. facilities.

Catering: There is no catering for this Navrun. There is reduced fee of $50 per team because of this.

Costs: The event is a total of $300 per team (2 vehicles per team). Bring many people as you like, no extra charge.

Fuel requirements: All fuels are available close by. It always pays to bring a little extra fuel, saving you a drive anyway.

Where is the event: Sunny Corner State Forest, more details soon of the exact location/s.

Should add that it is limited to 20 teams of 2 and is getting quite a lot of interest.Mannell Motors is the sponsor of this one and I believe the first 10 places get prizes and/or trophys.

Looks like by lack of response that there is only one team registered form this club.

Jenko,

What has happened to Brian? I looked at the Navrun site and it says you need 2 teams - entry fee $300. What will happen?

Hmm, what should I say?

It was a great weekend away! After a 3.10 wakeup call on Sat morning, I met up with Jenko and we drove up to Lithgow, meeting Brian and team at about 8.00am.

The camp ground at Sunny Corner was pretty good, although no facilities apart from toilets that answered the question "Do bears s--- in the woods and why?"

The navigation exercises were all well organised and pretty fun too, although our shortcomings on the use of GPS became very obvious, and Rob needs some mechanical help with the KJ.

We actually came 7/17 on Saturday, againsed some very competitive teams (Victorians), and several other teams who were a bit more relaxed (like us). Sunday was less good - GPS problems and we ended up Wooden Spooning.

So, next time, we need 2 teams (four vehicles) to assist each other (like the Victorians did), we need some XJ's, WJ's or TJ's because some of the driving was "challenging" for the KJ's, mind you other teams had some very serious comp type vehicles (and a blown radiator hose, a clutch that started a fire and at least one popped sidewall). Most importantly, we need more GPS practice.

But it was fun, and I'd recommend it to anyone. There is another event planned for possibly August.

Anyone interested?

Dave.

I agree with Dave it was a great event. My first in the Nav seat and I did learn that I DON"T like it much,no one to blame when it all goes wrong..  We had to use my Navis 80 series as the TJ isn't finished yet and i think he was enjoying it all way to much and took full advantage of the the old saying "ain't payback a bi*%h" We came in at 10th and found where we need to improve.

Top event a big thanks to Rudi and Peter for the time and effort, Manell Motors,Titan Off Road and all the sponsors and mostly to the other competitors for an excellent weekend and I even learned a thing or two.. strange things happen around a campfire late at night

I can definately recommend this one to any one who want's to have a go it helps to have a little GPS knowledge and map reading skills. There are a couple of practice runs coming up in the near future Will keep you all informed when the dates are set in concrete.
Cheers Jumbo
