POSTPONED TO SUNDAY 24 JUNE. Post up ON NEW THREAD
Its a boggy fairly boring track, mate. A bunch of jambo jeeps will be just what that track needs.
I was there about 5 months ago, not very challenging , Moreso its really only fire trails, The lookout was good though. You should make your way down to the suspension bridge. Its a bit of a walk from the campground but its certainly a fun side bit.. we ended coming out through Hartley.

Thanks for your input guys, it's most welcomed
I do understand that the initial part is easy on Mini Mini road to the Rocks, but I was going to do back track after the viewing and then attack the Little Fire Train and the K-Range Fire & Black Range Trails a bit further south.
Have you done these ?
I'm in thanks Steve.
Put me down as well :)
Cheers
Steve
Put me in too Steve
Maggie would like to come for a drive.
Do you mean Little River Fire Trail? You guys did the full circuit of that in an anti-clockwise direction on Miraz's Trip in Dec 2010. On a recce back in January the track further up,after the short 20m "play hill" and the rocky hill climb, is very chewed up and boggy and their is a locked gate on K-Range FT after you turn L onto it at the top of Little River Fire Trail.
Can you put me down for this trip please?
Cheers
Dave

Is that the trip we had to winch for about 6 hours in the rain (me especially) that you are referring to? The one with the BIG rock in the middle of the track?
Based on your information Dave, I will research more and take your advice. Please forward what you can please. Perhaps others can put forward more information.
Steve
Yep, that is on the last section of the track, (basically a circuit), but if the gate is still locked on K-range FT you wont be able to access it anyway. Look at the maps, the tracks are marked.
You could still drive the first half of Little River FT (access from a side track off mini-mini, a km or so before you get to the Gibraltar Rocks turn-off), to where it meets K-range and then head R, which i guess would take you out back toward the main jenolan rd.
DK
Thanks for your input. If the k-range is locked, then yes, we can take a right hander at the junction back towards the Jenolan Road Like I mentioned it's only a dry weather road as some of us know. I wonder if it's worth "investing in MaxTrax???.
As you can see from the map I attached there are some other tracks going back north east that may be worth it too.
I personally am not too fond of getting caught up again and getting others all muddy, tired and frustrated......
It's all fun!

Hi Steve - pls put me down as a reserve
Steve, put me under reserve, please.
Just increased numbers, so put your name down, even if reserved for this trip in 3 weeks.
Hey Steve.
I would like to attend this trip
Thank you
yes please
could you put me down as a reserve thanks Steve, David D. Will have new muddies by then.
Hello all
I spoke to a lovely lady at the NPWS today and she advised that the Beefsteak Creek Fire trail remains closed until further notice. This would have been a good b+ Track IMO.
But the NPWS are endeavouring to have the near by Black Range Trail reopened in time for the long weekend.
I'll keep an eye open to see if this is a viable track to do on 17th and thus the Jamboree
I'm still hoping to go to the Gibraltar Rocks Look Out. There are roads such as Black Range that head east towards murdering creek, six foot track an onto Megalong Valley. Many look like long tracks and could be unpredictable
If any one else has alternatives, please post up.
Steve
Steve
Put me down as a reserve, at the rate people drop out I should be Ok.
GP John Clark
ill be out at Rydal the weekend of this trip, if the numbers don't show up in the morning let us know at camp and a couple of us will most likely come out for the trip.
Cheers
Alex
Note this trip is now open with no limit on numbers
If it becomes too unmanageable - then we will address this on the day.
btw - Beefsteak Creek Fire trail is closed.
Hey Steve
Michelle and just freed up that so day so please put us down for sure
G'Day Steve- Can you add me too
Cheers,
Nick
Hey lads
Was just wondering if anyone whose done these trails before could tell me if they think a stock KJ cherokee with 29 inch cooper atz tyres would be able to do this trip or if it requires something more capable...
a-boogs
I have not been on all these and as the main track I was hoping to do is closed, we will be taking it easy while some may split off to attack other serious trails. No one is forced to do anything they or others think is not within the capabilities of driver or vehicle
I'm sure you will be able to do most of the tracks as we will help you through for sure.
You must have rated recovery points front and back plus recovery equipment plus a uhf if you have one.
Steve
Thanks Steve... It's not my truck I'm worried about though it's my dads new rig!!! He's not a club member yet but I'm hoping to get him out and get us another member so I'll have a yarn with him and see if he is keen join and get it dirty :excitement:
Im out for this trip
Awesome - count us in on this one.
Thanks Steve.
a_boogs - did you read my PM ??
sorry guys, got to work this weekend. cannot make it.
Steve we (Maggie & Bear) are out for this trip.
I'm out. Heart attack last Monday. Off the road for a while. Don't you love life's little turnes.
Hey Ian
Hope all is well and all the best for a speedy recovery
The weather does not look all that favourable for Sunday. They expect rain on Saturday
I'm in two mind if we should postpone it.
Though I think it's a good exercise to proceed, in the event we have similar weather in September, we need to find alternative "attractions"
I'm open to ALL those that have shown interest for Sunday to put forward their comments.
I appreciate your clarification as soon as possible
Steve
Hi Steve.
Depending on how many people turn up and the tread lightly policy we could split the group as we do not want to chew up the track with 14 jeeps
One group could explore the track you had mentioned and the others could explore some other area as we still have a lot of track to map out.
I do agree with you as we do need to run these tracks in bad weather to see if they are still a viable option,
I am still keen to head up there
I say we head up to Lithgo see what the weather is doing and the numbers and go from there
