Took it out for a quick spin to monkey gum trail, but this tome from southern end off turpentine rd. Didn't travel to far as I was just one lonely jeep. Purpose of trip was to test new lift. I told ARB that with lift i wanted to extend the swayarm link but they said no need. I heard CraigB did substantial damaged to his steering so I needed to ensure things would be ok before next weekend (killingsworth loop). Felt pretty good, however didn't want to flex to much as the sway arm link looked a bit to close to doubling over.

Jeep has nominal 2" lift, and electronic disconnects

    Will organize extension this week

The sway bar on a JK should be parallel to the chassis when the car is on level ground although a 5 degree angle either up or down from that position is acceptable.

Whoever the idiot was at ARB that said that you don't need extended sway bar links either doesn't know what the f**k he is talking about or just doesn't give a shit. Probably both but that isn’t too surprising. It is an unfortunate and sad testament to the 4WD industry in general that we regularly get crap advice like that from 4WD equipment installers that claim to be 4WD experts. Macquarie 4WD is supopsed to have a good reputation but they installed a 3.5 inch lift in my car without bothering to include not only extended sway bar links but extended bump stops as well and unbelievably not even extended brake lines. When I queried them about it after a club member pointed it out to me they simply said they didn’t think it was necessary. More like they just didn’t think at all. But they are the experts and I'm just another dumb arsed customer and a Jeep owner as well. No one in the industry seems to give a shit about Jeep other than the specialist Jeep suppliers.

I’ll be at Killingsworth next weekend, I’ll show you how I’ve setup my rig then if you like. I have a set of adjustable Rubicon Express sway bar links that I replaced on my JK. I don't want them and I'd happily let you have them if you want. Call me through the week, I might be able to get them to you so you can fit them before next weekend.

If you are using ARB Wollongong then I’d guess that you are from the south side like me. I live near Sutherland so if you like we could meet up for the drive up north to Berowra too.

All respect to ARB-WHOEVER said "not need extend swaybar link".

BUT - That is absolute uninformed CRAP. You must. it wont break this week, nor next month, but it WILL break after the lift....and will do so by wearing, due to metal-fatigue. And will do so after a period of time when you will have NO recourse through Warranty and absolutely NONE through dealership.

Look, I have been through this extensively with Jeep and Chrysler Australia...I rang and spoke with ARB. I will say this flat out with no compunction as I have before:

Whoever tells you that you dont need to extend the linkages is not only utterly ignorant of the consequences, but also does not deserve YOUR money.

Take me to task. Or have at least a spare $4500 in your wallet.
