Dunno to be honest. Steel is an alloy of sorts, so I daren't get too techie. Its more like a casted piggy iron. Hope this helps, clear as mud?

I've used the winch twice and it's great, no fraying. The nubby Factor 55 thingy sticks out a wee bit. Gunna stick a front 2" hitch point for a crane, next to the winch.
