    Default Power steering pump

    Hi,

I've noticed a grease / oil like substance around the power steering pump. Is this normal?
Power steering working well, no noise or anything. I don't think it's power steering fluid either. There are no visible leaks from the surrounding hoses.

    JKU 2011 with 35K kms.

    Thanks.

PS I can't seem to upload any pics to the forum.

Cobus, I had what sounds like a similar thing at about 35k km on my 2011 jk. Center of pully looked wet. Seal in power steer pump was damaged. I took it to jeep at penrith and they replaced it under warranty.

I have just replaced my second one at 65k km after it filling my engine bay with oil when stuck in mudd the other week at wattos.

If still under warranty try jeep first .

Dealer quoted me $900 (supply only)

Jeepkraft $450 + shipping (supply only)

    Hope this helps.

Although may not be your pump hard to say with out seeing.

    Hi Jim,

Thanks for the info. Were there any other symptoms (steering noise etc) or just the wetness?

I'm heading off to Fraser Island in a few weeks and just want to make sure all is well.

    Thanks

The first time no symptoms just wetness I drove like this for at least a month no worries. The second time steering went heavy but still drove for a couple of days.
