Default Tindog trip pics 28th - 29th Jan (Tindog)

Went up to Tindog with Albert (Dino), his wife (Sham) and my wife and kids. We met the Suzuki Club guys on the way up at Stroud and they took us in. Once we got up there we set up camp and us Jeepers went off to explore.

The tracks that we mapped and travelled weren't too bad except for one with a big step, we gave it a go but with no lockers and the loose soil we didn't have much of a chance (kids and wives in the car didn't help )

Most of the tracks we travelled would be pretty tough in the wet but in the dry probably C+ with some steep loose climbs and downhills. Although the Suzuki guys had a harder time so they may rate the tracks a little harder than we did. We traveled some they couldn't manage that day.

Anyway, the campsite is brilliant with a decent toilet, shower, power and plenty of water. You wouldn't easily fit more than a dozen tents on there without some thought but the 'Blue Room' is pretty cool (see the pics)

Solar power panels and a shed full of car batteries for storage

    Toilet, amazingly no smell!

And some track pics. Some were overgrown, some were steep and rutted and some were a cruise. I'll go though them later and try and add a desciption to the ones on the map we were supplied.

    For now here they are.

    Track labelled as track 'B'

Love the report Steve. Looks like great fun. Keen to get up there sometime soon. I just struggle to get a whole weekend free.

You should try and get up there it's a nice place with some good scenic driving and a few challenges. It would take a few visits to do all the tracks just once. To do them all both ways would be at least 6-8 visists I'd say

Here's a pic Dino took that I really like.

Good stuff Steve, looks like you covered a bit of ground up there. Did you get a chance to look at any of the tracks on the Tindog site, or mainly the ones on Cambell's land?

Mostly Cambells land, although we did the little one that goes out the back of the camping ground and through the small creek (not shown on the map). The Suzuki guys put us off a bit with stories of axle breakage but it was pretty easy, could be slippery in the wet though

Are the ones on the Tindog site mapped? The ones we had on the map looked like they were all on Cambells land other than the little one I mentioned.

If you look on the map we did all of 'B', 'C', 'A' in both directions, 'E' in both directions and some of 'P' (it was really overgrown and we had to backtrack).

'C' is a long steep climb, mostly clay soil so would be tough in the wet, wast a bit slippery and tight even in the dry, it has a steepish decent at the 'Camp toyota' end. 'B' at the Bruitt Bluff end (far right on map) is where the big dirt step was, 'E' is tough going and rutted where you climb as it comes off of 'A' but gets easier as you head towards 'B' and 'A' is the main trail in after the river crossing I think thats everything.

Yeah the ones mapped out on Cambell's map are just his. I think Tim or Dvid from the Zook club might have some of the ones on our site mapped, so it might be worth asking on the Yahoo group before we go up there next.

I really want to get up there again myself, preferably in the TJ too, so we'll have to try and arrange something soonish.

I didn't see any tracks coming off the blue track on the map into tindog other than the small one we did, there maybe some hidden ones in there though.
