Thread: Low Oil Pressure 03 Wrangler

Default Low Oil Pressure 03 Wrangler

    Hey Fellow Jeepers
Long story short... Got low pressure saw an oil leak topped up oil. Happened again, did the same. Now oil level is fine but pressure is gone. Engine temp stays at a steady 100, even after a day of city driving.
Booked in for service on the 16th Dec.

    Questions:
Can I limp along (50km a day) for 2 days?
Any idea what the issue could be?

    Thanks for your help/advice

    Could be:
    Faulty Sensor,
    Faulty or cavitating pump,

Personally I would drive it the absolute minimum until you can get it checked out. A faulty sensor you'd be fine, but if its the pump then driving with low pressure can result in extremely accelerated wear on the engine.

+1 what Wooders said above. The oil pressure you see on the dashboard is only as good as the pressure sensor which is (near the oil filter towards the firewall). If it is damaged, then you will see no oil pressure but the oil pump can still work. If unsure where and what to look for – best advice I can offer is to see a mechanic - someone nearby. Taking taxi for 2 days could be cheaper than a major engine repair.

    Thought I would add...
    Yesterday:
Started engine at 7am pressure fine
Started engine at 9am pressure gone
Started engine at 1pm pressure fine
Started engine at 11pm pressure fine
    ...What...!?!?
