Apologies folks...I'm out. Have been asked to work tomorrow...

Still a likelihood of rain, we'll deal with it. Winds not so bad. Surfing and fishing sounds crap, so lets go wheelin'.

sorry to miss those not able to make it. Everyone else lets have some fun!

    Quick report back.

thanks to Will, Nash, Ben and particularly Rupe - who's experience was repeatedly called on. Stuart, yes wet weather makes Monkey Gum interesting.

We tried entry via rock garden to "middle earth". Slippery and slidey so we opted for an alternate. But the climb back out of the creek was testing. Having made the tricky looking bit, we were stuck in position with all 4 wheels rotating at an inocuous flat mud slime. Sliding sideways until bouncing on a root and through. Which was good as snatch straps dont tend to work well unless you have at least one jeep on the other side.

after discussion we tried entry via Wombat Flats which worked. But we let a group through who had broken up our convoy at an intersection. This was telling as on Monkey Gum itself we spent plenty of time waiting as the group ahead fought obstacles.

We set a cut off point of 3:00pm and turned back, approx half way through Monkey Gum. Pity but at least we were all airing up in daylight.

The JK has never had so much mud! It was a good test of navigation, a year since we've been there. The brain began to remember things during the day but it was a mapping recce at first. Well done to my navigator, Kerry!

Jose, that one is for you buddy. Get well soon!
