Hey all, I am new here

I have Purchased a Stock standard 2005 TJ Renegade, absolutely love it

I am planning a few modifications and am also totally new to the jeep way of life

Only planning of doing a 2 or 2.5? spring lift kit good for light to medium 4x4ing and possibly some 32? BF Goodrich tires. I Have been reading an American link: http://www.4x4xplor.com/tj.html
And he seems to think a 1? body lift and 1? motor mount lift is a good idea?

I was just wondering what are the week points of the TJ?
What things should I look out for?
EG what should be replaced with stronger items?

    Thanks for the help

Matt, there are lot's of big TJ's in this club so I'm sure you will find lot's of help over time. You should also check AJOR as it's got a TJ section.

As for what are the weak point's with the TJ, well where do I start  just kidding. I can't offer any advice as I don't have a TJ. I'm sure you will get all the help you need

    Thanks :P

I joined up as I know how much help a good forum can be

My previous car was involved in forums but was recently lost in a work shop fire all that hard work,
This is it before the fire:

this is how it is now

Oh well got a TJ now , so I got something new and completely different to play with :P

I have been thinking a 3" longer spring lift and shocks to suit with a good SYE would be money better spent then all the body and engine spacers??
Would i need to extend brake lines @3" or anything else ?

also found out NRMA apparently don?t insure it over 2" so I have to check

I'd be happy with the fire thing if that was mine, not to worry you now have a TJ onward & upward if you know what i mean

Hey MattTJ - if you live in the Sydney area you should come to a club meeting - details in upcoming events section
I have learned much about my TJ attending meetings and talking to other TJ owners face to face

also found out NRMA apparently don?t insure it over 2" so I have to check
check out TCIS I was insured with NRMA prior to modifying my TJ -TCIS insured me for more and I pay less

Awesome I will look into it

What do you do about carrying extra fuel in the TJ when you go away out bush? 8O

I know there is a duel tank for the 5spd but not the 6spd as the space is smaller! crossmember moved or something like that!

And there is not much room on the back for jerry can holders.

Might have to look into making something up or is there something available in Aus. ?

Seen this but looks like it would unbalance it:
