Thread: Tow Bar

    Default Tow Bar

    Dear SJC,

Before I install it. I have no issues with the back of my car... except trying to lift the spare tyre off the holder without breaking my back..

I ordered a haymond reece towbar for my car. I had one of these before on a different car and it was pretty excellent, quality brand..

should I be considering something else for my Joy Toy? or is this gonna be decent purchase for a newbie? Or do I need to go back to the shark cage?

    Thanks for your support.

    Cheers,

    Linda

Hey Linda, Mic offroad in Marickville have a tow hitch for JK's for $158.00, no wiring loom though or ball mount thingy that holds the towball, but its good for a recovery hitch. David..

I know i'm not the original poster but one of my main concerns is having a tow hitch that is ADR approved.... Moreso then my front bumper, tyres, lift etc etc.....
Last thing i want is a reciver failing and dumping an expensive trailer, on a highway and insurance not coughing up....
Are smittybilt and mic offroad tow hitches adr compliant?
I have the mopar one and will be trying as hard as possible to make it work with a rear bar i select in the future, for peace of mind
I believe to be legal in australia all it needs is a plate stating its limits could be wrong though.

Hayman Reece will be fine, they make good stuff. Only thing is that you will need a wiring harness, or have an auto electrician wire it up.

Sorry, but English is my only language at this time... This is just my Sport's car for the moment... I do speak computers, i do learn some stuff. I can still disasemble my kitchen sink and put in washers..

WTF is a wiring harness? and ADR approved?

Man, I don't really have a whole lotta trouble when I go to a hardware store just to by a 2x2 piece of wood, that I can saw off to make a hanger for my exterior garoyle that I want to mount on my deck post.

Wiring harness is just that, where you plug the trailer lights into. ADR =The Australian Design Rules (ADRs) are national standards for vehicle safety, anti-theft and emissions.

Rules set but the fun police.
