    Default Insurance advice

    Hi all
I'm looking for advice/opinion/recommendation for insuring my pride and joy.
I currently only have a third party + fire & theft policy on it since I purchased it but thinking of changing it since I have put a lot of mods and improvements into this TJ.
Can you share your experience and knowledge to shed some light on it for me.....
Greatly appreciate any input and info especially pitfalls to avoid and features to look for.

    cheers,

    Shefy.

My recommendations is ask if they will cover your Jeep if it is off road as not all insurance companies will do that

Due to the nature of what we use our jeeps for and the fact we do not always drive on marked roads and some times on private property, make sure you investigate that they will cover you and make sure it is in the PDS (product disclosure statement)

I went with Shannon's as they would cove me for every thing i use my jeep for

Also check you are covered for an event not just an accident. This can make a difference with claiming as well
eg - the event is a river crossing the result is a hydro locked engine which is covered by insurance

If you have modifications will the cover them?

We are with GIO as long as we are legally allowed to be somewhere we are covered.

Thanks Steve, I automatically thought that what happens when I'm off the bitumen was my problem, I guess most of the big insurers don't want to deal with this. I'll def check out Sannon's as I have seen their adds on motor sports shows and they do look like they target the outside of the box stuff.

Thanks Heidi, I wasn't aware of the difference between an accident and event, that's exactly the kind of stuff I needed to know Thank you.

I can highly recommend affinity insurance brokers . They are specialist 4WD insurers amongst other things.

I have spoken with him and he's completely happy for me to post their details.

Insurance for highly modded jeeps, gazetted and non gazetted road coverage, camping gear insurance to $2500 included in policy...

And they were half the price of TCIS for me.

I have a 2012 JKU rubicon, with 15000 of mods, full disclose on lift, muddies, winch etc, all noted on the policy. I even added my custom electrical system and rear storage to my policy for an agreed value.

So jealous of the prices you guys pay, I'm up for $2500 each year, mind you the jeep is garageless and 2 claims 12 months ago... Including a write off...

    Give him a call

Shefy - Just do the rounds of the main players and be upfront. Compare and make your judgement on what suites your needs and what each covers and not cover.
That's what I have- I listed everything including mod suspension, tyres, bar, winch etc etc and even air compressor, as long as it's fixed to vehicle. iI'm with GIO and have to say they are good and in my case cheaper than anyone else

Thanks Rhino I will give him a call, I have seen the electrical set up behind your back seat and your cargo area did you have to spec out for them all the mods and equipment?

    Hey Steve
That's exactly what I'm going to do, it is the feedback I get here and all the info and suggestions that will see me asking them the right questions.
Heidi also mentioned GIO so I'll be checking them as well, see how the specialist guys like Shannon's stack up against the mainstream boys.

Shannons insurance.......... They were half the price to cover the TJ....... Had full off-road cover including recovery.......... Was also fully covered for "Track Day's" and had first salvage rights if it came to that....... Agreed value, including any mod's I had eg, a terralow reduction T/Case, tyres etc......... Was "Dumped" by GIO after over 25 years being with them...........
